1.       What did I learn about “lifelong wellness” from taking this class?

I have wanted to learn how to golf for a few years. Now that I have had the opportunity to become acquainted with golf, I wonder what took me so long.  I find golf is very challenging at first, the stance is painful and the grip is acquired. I thought that you just hit the ball and puts around the course. Nope. Learning the sport has taught me patients with myself and those around me. Furthermore, I have a new respect for learning; I understand that you must practice all the things that you wish to do well and golf requires years of participation. You cannot do math, read, write, and walk without practice. Finally, I learned that you need have an understanding of the sport in order to appreciate the health value in golf.

2.       How has learning about and applying “lifelong wellness” concepts impacted my life (home, school, work, etc…)?

The impact golf has had on my life was noticeable almost immediately. I love talking to my kids and wife about the concepts and etiquette of golf. I have taken my wife Wendy golfing and taught her some things. I have found that many people are looking to go golfing, or want a golf buddy. Strangely, on stressful days in class I find myself going to the golf course to vent some frustrations. Ultimately, I feel that my marriage has benefited the most; because I have found a source to direct my frustration.

3.       What is my intention to continue to exercise in my life and why?

I have every intention to continue golfing. I purchased a set of really nice clubs and a ton of paraphernalia. I want to teach my kids how to play and have family friendly competitions. I find that golf maybe beneficial for my future in business. Many client-customer relationships are prolonged because of relationships forged on the golf course. Consequently, they could also be broken. Ultimately, the reason I wanted to golf is to find a way to bond with my father that lives in California. I think that face-time on the course is better than any media.
